uñón y Albornoz Arquitectos is an architecture office based in Madrid, dedicated to the confrontation of design and construction practice with theory and teaching. Directed by Emilio Tuñón and Carlos Martínez of Albornoz, Tuñón y Albornoz Arquitectos emerged as a natural evolution of the Mansilla + Tuñón Arquitectos office, after the death of architect Luis M. Mansilla in 2012.
The work of Tuñón y Albornoz Arquitectos comes, for the most part, from first prizes obtained in national and international competitions, and has been recognized with the following awards: Fuera de Serie Award (2023), Architecture Prize in Extremadura (2021), XV Prize BEAU Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (2021), AMO Awards (2021), Nueva Bauhaus Award (2021), COAM Luis M. Emilio Tuñón (Madrid, 1959) is an architect who graduated from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM) in 1981, and in 2000 he obtained his doctorate from ETSAM. In 1993 he founded, with Luis M. Mansilla and Luis Rojo, the CIRCO research cooperative, awarded the FAD Prize 2007 and the BIAU 2002. His research work has been recognized with the Francqui Chair in Brussels 2015. In 1992 he founded, with Luis M. Mansilla (1959-2012), Mansilla + Tuñón Arquitectos and in 2012 Tuñón y Albornoz Arquitectos.
