Pezo Von Ellrichshausen is an art and architecture studio founded in 2002 by Mauricio Pezo (b. Renaico, Chile, 1973) and Sofía von Ellrichshausen (b. Bariloche, Argentina, 1976). They live and work in the south of Chile, on a farm at the foot of the Andes mountain range.
Pezo and von Ellrichshausen share the chair of Professor of the Practice at the AAP of Cornell University, and have been visiting professors at the GSD of Harvard University, the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, the UTSOA of the University of Texas , the Porto Academy and the Catholic University of Chile.
His work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the MAXXI in Rome and as part of the Permanent Collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Carnegie Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. They have been invited to the International Architecture Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia (2010, 2016), where, in addition, in 2008, they were the curators of the Chilean Pavilion.
The work of the studio has been distinguished with the Emerging Mies Crown Hall of America Award from the IIT (Chicago, 2014), the Rice Design Alliance Award (Houston, 2012), the Award from the V Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (Montevideo , 2006), the Prize of the XV Chilean Architecture Biennial (Santiago, 2006) and the Regional Architecture Prize (Concepción, 2014).
Mauricio Pezo obtained a Master's degree in Architecture from the Catholic University of Chile (Santiago, 1998), the title of Architect from the University of Bío-Bío (Concepción, 1999) and has been awarded the Young Architect Award granted by the College of Architects of Chile (Santiago, 2006) and the Municipal Art Prize (Concepción, 2013).
Sofía von Ellrichshausen is an Architect from the University of Buenos Aires, where she was awarded the FADU-UBA Honorary Diploma (Buenos Aires, 2002). In 2018 she was president of the jury of the International Architecture Exhibition of the Biennale di Venezia.
