This monograph is dedicated to the work and projects developed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, between 2015 and 2023, both jointly, in the office founded by both, SANAA, and individually. This volume completes the number of El Croquis 205.
SANAA, created in 1995 by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, has been awarded numerous prestigious international awards, such as the Golden Lion of the 9th Venice Biennale (2004), the Japan Institute of Architecture Prize (2006), the Pritzker Prize (2010) and the Mies Crown Hall American Prize (2016).
Kazuyo Sejima (Ibaraki, Japan. 1956) graduated from the Japan Women's University in 1981, and then joined the Toyo Ito & Associates office. In 1987 she founded her own office, and in 1992 she was awarded Young Architect of the Year. He has received the Arts Award from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. Currently, she is a professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan, at the Yokohama School of Architecture, and a visiting professor at the Japan Women's University and the Osaka University of Art.
Ryue Nishizawa (Tokyo, Japan. 1966) graduated from Yokohama National University in 1990 and, in that same year, began working for Kazuyo Sejima & Associates. In 1997 he established his independent office. Currently, he is a professor at the Yokohama School of Architecture.
